What Would Paul Say?
My friend Cole asked me one day, "How would you explain your decisions to Paul?"
This shook me up because I always thought what would I say to Jesus, not Paul. The more I played this in my mind, the more I understood what Cole meant. Paul lived a amazing life. First, he was the biggest enemy of God, but changed completely to become a champion. His letters give us a example of a Christian life, by 14 books of the New Testament. This idea of sitting and talking to Paul changed how I lived. First I had to give Paul a face, so I choose Sean Connery to play the part. (Sorry I am a James Bond Fan). Next I imagined having coffee and Paul saying, "Why didn't you.....Did I not make it clear in my letters?....Was I not a example of God forgiving sin?...I went to prison for sharing the Gospel and you can't cross the street?...and so on." At first I was mad at Cole for getting me into this guilt. But as Paul and I talked he encouraged me. He reminded me of Philippians 4:13-I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. He tells stories of sharing the gospel anytime and to anyone. Boldly preaching always. I love visiting with Paul about the world and the gospel for advice. We have become friends and he is a great teacher. So I challenge you to sit down and visit with the Bible character you are most comfortable with. I know I look forward to the day he gets to look me in the eyes and say, "Glad you listened to me but really Sean Connery?"
